We ask for two things: your email, and (if you like) your first name — so we can send you the free toolkit and the occasional email. This page explains exactly what we collect, where it goes, and how to get it back or have it deleted. We handle it in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Who runs this site
James Whitfield is the publishing name behind this site and its books. “James Whitfield” is an AI author persona; a real, registered practising doctor reviews the work. For anything to do with your personal information, a human handles it — reach us at [email protected].
What we collect
What you give us
- Email address — required, so we can send you the toolkit and our emails.
- First name — optional, used only to address emails to you.
That's the whole form. We don't ask for, and the site has no field for, any other personal information.
What's recorded automatically
Our host, Cloudflare, keeps standard server logs (your IP address, browser type, and the time of a request) to run the site securely and defend it from abuse. We don't use that data to build a profile of you. There are no analytics tools, no advertising pixels, and no tracking cookies on this site.
How we use it
- To deliver the free Start-Tomorrow Toolkit you asked for.
- To send a short welcome sequence and occasional emails about the books.
- To keep our list clean (for example, removing addresses that bounce).
We don't use your information for any purpose you wouldn't reasonably expect from joining an author's email list.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data, and we don't share it for anyone else's marketing. We do rely on two service providers to run the site:
- Kit (formerly ConvertKit) — our email provider. Your email and first name are stored with Kit so we can send you mail. Kit is based in the United States, so by joining the list your details are stored and processed overseas. Kit acts on our instructions and does not use your data for its own marketing.
- Cloudflare — hosts the website and processes the signup request. Cloudflare operates servers internationally.
Because these providers operate outside Australia, signing up involves an overseas disclosure of your personal information, consistent with Australian Privacy Principle 8. We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers that maintain appropriate safeguards.
How long we keep it
We keep your details for as long as you're on the list. Unsubscribe and we stop emailing you; ask us to delete your data and we remove it from our records and from Kit, except where we're required to keep something to meet a legal obligation.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe — every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. No reason needed.
- Access — ask us what personal information we hold about you, and we'll tell you.
- Correct — tell us if something's wrong and we'll fix it.
- Delete — ask us to erase your data and we will.
To do any of these, email [email protected]. We'll respond within a reasonable time and may need to confirm your identity first.
Keeping it secure
Your details travel over an encrypted connection and are held by established providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and we keep what we collect to the minimum.
Children
This site and its books are written for adults and aren't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date below. Material changes will be made clear.
